Congratulations to Peabody

Peabody Trust has provided social housing in Ilford South including the major development off Ley Street for more that 20 years. Mike Gapes is one of the signatories of Early Day Motion 2910 which states:

That this House recognises the role that Peabody has played in London as a pioneer of social housing over the last 150 years; notes that it currently provides homes for 55,000 people in London and also delivers a wide range of community projects that improve access to employment training and opportunities that have a positive impact on people's lives; joins in congratulating Peabody on celebrating its 150th milestone on 26 March 2012, exactly 150 years since The Times announced George Peabody's founding donation, and with a year of activities for all; further recognises that the anniversary is also a celebration of London's rich social history; and welcomes Peabody's focus on helping London's communities to flourish by providing a good home, a real sense of purpose and a strong feeling of belonging for as many people as possible.
