Disturbances Update

Last night according to our local police " Redbridge had a quieter night than in previous days."

This morning I walked around Ilford Town Centre and was pleased to see that our community is getting back to normal.

This afternoon I joined other London MPs at a meeting with Home Office Minister James Brokenshire.   It was a useful meeting at which I was able to update the Minister on the situation in Ilford .  I pointed out the intense pressures our police were faced with on Monday night and the additional stress on our local police caused by having to send officers to assist in other parts of London.    I was disappointed that the Minister refused to call a halt to cuts in Police numbers in London and said it was a matter for Mayor Boris Johnson and the Greater London Authority.

This evening I have been in the Town Centre and with the help of the  increased  police numbers everything is quiet.

Tomorrow  the House of Commons  has been recalled from its Summer recess. I hope to be able to speak in the debate.
