I would like to wish all my Muslim constituents a happy and memorable Eid ul-Fitr, the celebration marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
I hope that this Ramadan was a time for reflection and spirituality for all. It is a special time of year when Muslims all across the world concentrate on faith, charity and spirituality while fasting from dawn to dask for a whole lunar month.
Last month I was pleased to attend the Parliamentary launch of the Silver Star Stay Healthy During Ramadan campaign urging Muslims with diabetes to take steps to ensure they stay safe whilst fasting.
The special day of Eid provides an opportunity to reflect on the great contributions members of the Muslim community have made to my constituency’s and to our country's rich and diverse heritage.
I am proud of the great contribution Muslims have made and are making to our community in Ilford, Redbridge and throughout our country.
I wish all Muslims in Ilford South and beyond a joyous Eid.
