Gordon Brown's visit to USA

Prime Minister Gordon Brown is the first European Prime minister or President to visit the USA to meet President Obama. This shows the continuing importance of UK -USA relations. As I told Reuters in an interview this week the USA has many important allies in Asia and Europe and elsewhere but
we in the UK still have a strong special relationship with the USA. The alliance would continue to be “A special relationship, not THE special relationship”. Our two countries have longstanding mutual interests and now that Bush has gone it will be easier for a Labour Prime Minister since there is also now a political affinity between the policies of Brown and Obama for the reform of global institutions and for Keynesian economic policies . Here is a report of the visit including a quote from me.
