Proscribe Hezbollah as a terrorist organisation in the UK

Thank you to those who contacted me recently about the proscription of Hezbollah in the UK.

The military wing of Hezbollah is currently proscribed as a terrorist organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000. Its proscription means that a variety of activities performed in relation to it are an offence. These include displaying articles, such as flags, in public that arouse suspicion that the person doing so is a member or supporter of it.

I spoke in the debate on this issue in Parliament on 25 January, you can read what I said here.

I am pleased that Parliament voted for the motion, however the government has made clear that it will not be changing its position.
