Mike Gapes MP joined colleagues from the Parliamentary Labour Party in supporting a charity bake-off for Red Nose Day
MPs showed off their baking skills with an assortment of cakes, brownies and flapjacks that were sold to other MPs, Peers and Labour Party staff, with the money raised from the sale of the cakes going towards this year’s Red Nose Day campaign.
The MPs had to be at the top of their game as their culinary creations were being judged by Fay Ripley who, after careful consideration, awarded Labour Party Cake of the Year to Gavin Shuker MP for his Four Layer Chocolate and Caramel cake.
Fay Ripley said: “It was great seeing so many MPs getting involved with this charity bake-off – I had no idea we had so many chefs in the Labour Party
Mike Gapes MP said: “It was great to be able to support the fantastic work that Comic Relief does and help raise money for Red Nose Day, and if it means we also get to enjoy some delicious cake then all the better!”
Now in its 25th year, Red Nose Day raises money to transform the lives of countless people, both here at home in the UK and across Africa. Please visit www.rednoseday.com to find out how you can get involved with this year’s campaign.
