Mike also had recent meetings with constituents and received petitions calling for Prime Minister David Cameron to reverse his decision to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Colombo next month.

Mike Gapes is a member of the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee which has made strong criticisms of  the position of the British government and its policy towards Sri Lanka in its Annual Human Rights report published last week.

Mike Gapes  MP has expressed his strong criticism and disappointment that Prime Minister David Cameron still intends to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting (CHOGM)  in Sri Lanka despite the poor human rights situation, the recent damning report by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay and the decision by Stephen Harper the Conservative Prime Minister of Canada to boycott the meeting.

Here is a recent interview  with Mike Gapes about this issue.
