Unemployment still far too high

It is good news that the number of unemployed claimants in Ilford South is down but there is still a very long way to go to get back to full employment and worryingly there has been an increase in the number of young people who are out of work.
Ilford South  unemployed claimants in June 2013 were 3,572. This represents a rate of 6.0% of the economically active population aged 16 to 64, the 175th highest rate of unemployment of the 650 UK constituencies.
The number of claimants is 304 lower than in June 2012 and 78 lower than in May 2013. These data are not seasonally adjusted.
But young unemployed aged 18 to 24 are up from  790 (5.8%) in May  to 850 ( 6.2% ) in June 2013.
